The region of Le Marche is mostly commonly thought of as a region with rural landscapes and farmhouses and not generally associated with the beautiful blue of the Adriatic Sea and glorious sandy beaches.
How wrong can you be!!!
In fact the Southern part of Le Marche around Grottammare and San Benedetto del Tronto has a beautiful beach lined with palm trees, says Linda Travella of Casa Travella Ltd, who has been selling property in Italy for 25 years.

The area is well served by Pescara and the new Ancona airport, and is very popular with the Romans for 2nd homes, as they can drive over the Gran Sasso in just over 2 hours. The infrastructure here is good, ‘says Linda, and more importantly the property prices are affordable’. If you compare the prices of a property by the sea in Tuscany (view property) ,and a property by the sea in Southern Le Marche you will be pleasantly surprised, (view property) There is a 20 kms path along the sea to be used for cycling and walking from San Benedetto del Tronto to Pedaso (see video of San Benedetto and beach.) About 4 years ago the whole of the sea front area at San Benedetto was redesigned, and is now full of walkways with delightful gardens and activities for children. Property in this area close to the sea is a normally a good investment and has excellent rental potential. Make sure that you tap into the Italian market if you are thinking of rental and not just your home market.
Now is a great time to buy a property in Italy with prices at the lowest they have been for many years, with vendors much more open to offers. So don’t keep waiting and book a viewing trip to see what great value for money these properties are!
