Casa Travella was founded in 1987 by Linda and Pietro Travella, who recognised an opportunity to help international buyers discover the possibilities of owning a home in Italy.
At a time when relatively few estate agencies specialised in Italian property for overseas buyers, Linda and Pietro combined their bilingual skills, knowledge of Italian culture and personal connections to establish a business built around professional guidance and individual service.
Almost four decades later, Casa Travella continues to help buyers explore Italy’s property market, drawing on the experience and relationships developed since those early days.
Our Beginnings on Lake Como
Casa Travella began by offering properties for sale on Lake Como, a region with strong personal connections for both Linda and Pietro. Pietro comes from the area, while Linda had lived and worked there.
Their local knowledge enabled them to introduce international buyers to properties around the lake and help them understand the practicalities of purchasing a home in Italy.
From the beginning, the company’s approach went beyond simply introducing buyers to properties. Helping clients navigate the purchase process, find suitable professionals and understand local customs became an important part of the Casa Travella service.
Growing Across Italy
As interest in Italian property increased, Linda recognised that buyers were looking for different lifestyles, landscapes and types of homes.
Casa Travella gradually expanded beyond Lake Como, developing relationships with local associates and property professionals in other parts of Italy.
Today, the company offers properties across Abruzzo, Calabria, Lake Como, Le Marche, Liguria, Puglia, Tuscany and Veneto, helping buyers explore everything from rural farmhouses and village homes to coastal villas and lakeside apartments.
Throughout that growth, the emphasis has remained on personal attention and understanding each client’s requirements.
Professional Recognition and Leadership
In 1994, Linda received an award from the Mayor of Como in recognition of her contribution to promoting tourism on Lake Como.
Her involvement in the international property industry also extended to the Federation of Overseas Property Developers, Agents and Consultants, where she served on the committee.
In 2000, Linda became the Federation’s first woman chair, holding the position for four years.
These milestones reflect her longstanding involvement in the overseas property sector and her commitment to promoting professional standards.
Sharing Italian Property Expertise on Television and Radio
Linda’s knowledge of Italian property has led to appearances on British and international television and radio.
She has contributed to BBC Breakfast News, BBC Radio 5 Live and ITV’s I Want That House with Mark Simpkins, appearing in six episodes of the programme.
Linda also appeared on Channel 4’s A Place in the Sun with Amanda Lamb, exploring the villas and scenery of Lake Como, as well as on Irish television.
These appearances brought her knowledge of Italian property and the Lake Como area to a wider audience.
