Covid has affected the property market in a positive way, says Linda Travella, director of Casa Travella, who has been dealing in the Italian property market for over 25 years.
Italian properties are being put on the market at lower price and whilst there is less room to negotiate it means prices are more affordable.
The overall effect has been very positive with Casa Travella seeing the most buyers looking to either buy a second Italian home or to move to Italy since the 2nd quarter of 2016.
Clients that has previously decided to wait have suddenly realised now is the right time to buy. I think there are 3 reasons for this:
1. Clients consider it a buyers’ market.
2. In lockdown clients have been thinking about the whole situation and how difficult it has been and so have thought, lets follow our dream now and not wait any longer.
3. Financially there is no interest to be gained from investments, unless you try the Stock Market and many clients are nervous of that and an Italian property seems a good investment at the right price, of course!
I think the COVID effect will go on for a while and I see the market staying buoyant.
Italy has been open for viewing since May and is one of the few countries where you do not have to quarantine, so far. So, don’t delay, book your viewing trip to Italy today!
I am finding Tuscany and Puglia very popular at the moment closely followed by Lakes Como & Maggiore
There is a surge in the €100.000 and under price bracket where clients would rather invest in property than just leave their money in the bank.
