Located just 9km south of the “White City” of Ostuni, and midway between Ceglie Messapica and San Vito dei Normanni, we offer this substantial country property sitting in over 4 acres of land with 200 olive trees and other trees, some 25 minutes from the Adriatic sea, 35 minutes to Brindisi airport and 80 minutes to Bari airport. The property currently consists of a 4 room main building with two bedrooms and bathroom, which would benefit from modernisation and a two room lamia which needs to be developed as well as a variety of outbuildings. The setting is absolutely private and secluded. The main house is in two parts which could be connected, and has a large terraced area. The centuries-old lamia has two rooms with barrel-vaulted ceilings. This unit could be converted into a one-bedroom guesthouse. As the land is so large, at around 1.7 hectares (4.2 acres) it would be possible to get planning permission to extend, in case there was a need for additional accommodation or to make a 4-6 bedroom B & B/Agriturismo. From the terrace, a path leads passed the outbuildings to the large garden pool. A sun deck could be built with a gazebo and an outdoor summer kitchen & BBQ area. For the olive grove, the owner currently obtains an annual grant for the maintenance of the olive trees of which there are 200, with 80 % being immune against the Xylella fastidiosa disease. In addition, there are almond trees and many kinds of different fruit trees. The property is connected to mains electricity and has a huge water cistern of 200 cubic metres. Ostuni is reached in just 10 minutes with the cities of Ceglie Messapica and San Vito dei Normanni slightly nearer and San Michele Salentino even closer just 4km away. The many beaches are easily reached in just 25 minutes with the gorgeous coastal villages of Santa Sabina and Villanova, full of seafront restaurants. This is a lovely property, with excellent development potential to create a substantial property within easy reach of the sea and all amenities.
Casa Travella was founded in 1987 when Linda & Pietro Travella saw an opportunity to offer Italian property for sale. At this time there were very few companies that offered any property for sale in Italy. Now years later read some of their story.
The company is fronted by Linda Travella and Casa Travella started selling property on Lake Como, where Pietro was born and Linda has worked and lived. The company were able to offer advice on numerous properties and ongoing help with all aspects of the buying process. If a client wants to restore a property, then Casa Travella can source tradesmen and professionals in the area and help with every aspect of the transaction.
When the BBC were looking for someone to speak on BBC Breakfast News about European property Linda was chosen to appear live on the programme. Other TV and radio programmes followed including Radio 5 Live, and ‘I want that House’ with Mark Simpkins, where Linda appeared in 6 episodes, the last one being a live programme from Florida, where an Italian apartment was given away as a prize. Linda appeared for RTE, Irish TV and for Channel 4‘s ‘A Place in the Sun’, where she accompanied Amanda Lamb along the shores of Lake Como by boat, to show her some of the stunning villas, including the one owned by George Clooney.
The Casa Travella team are always pleased to help when clients want to buy or sell a property in Italy. The office is multilingual with English, Italian and Spanish being spoken.
Linda says: ‘I feel proud that we can offer property for sale in many areas of Italy and we are able to give clients independent and professional advice on areas and types of property to suit their budget and needs.’
